Articling Program
Applications:
We normally take on one student at a time. We do not take a student every year. We begin receiving applications approximately six months before the anticipated commencement of articles. We commence interviews of qualified candidates immediately. We are not involved in any matching programs. Our articling committee short lists candidates and conducts interviews. Its hiring recommendations are subject to the approval of the full partnership. Applicants should send their applications to the attention of Anthony J.B. Powell.
The following information should be included with your application:
- Transcripts of all post secondary education;
- A resume including information on extra-curricular activities and interests;
- Letters of reference;
- Samples of writing (preferably legal).
Articling Program:
Under our Law Society rules all students must complete the Professional Legal Training Course. We prefer that this be completed prior to our in house articles commencing.
Our goal when we hire an articled student is to ensure the student develops his or her legal and client skills to the point where they can become a partner in our firm. To achieve that goal we make it our practice to provide them with every available practice development tool. We have a structured Articling Program for articled students to ensure they receive a broad range of experience in all areas of law during their articles.
